In Her Own Right Graduate Student Internships
Summary: Two graduate student internships, offering pre-professional experience in creating and editing descriptive metadata and participating in digitization.
Duties: Focusing on documents in PACSCL’s CLIR INHOR project (http://inherownright.org) and working 10 hours a week, the intern will participate in digitization and description of original archival materials. Tasks may include scanning, creating metadata, editing metadata created by others, and quality checking records and image files. In addition, the intern may contribute to social media, and/or support the project team in project organization and communication with participants. The position is based at Temple University, but may include work in other archives within the Philadelphia region.
Requirements: Current enrollment in an ALA accredited library or information science graduate program. Interest in archives and archival techniques, especially digital archives. Preferred interest in project topics, including activism, abolition, and women’s rights. Ability to demonstrate initiative, work collaboratively and collegially. Effective interpersonal communication skills and dedicated attention to detail.
Hours and Pay: 10 hours/week, $15/hour; weekdays (flexible between 8:00 and 5:30). A 12-18 month position, dependent on project needs.
